Lost Graphical Bootsplash, SuSE 10.3
I have been running my openSuSE 10.3 with a ViewSonic VP2130b 21" LCD monitor (1600x1200). This monitor has two inputs, a VGA one and a DVI one. I have had my Mac hooked into the DVI port and my SuSE system hooked into the VGA port. I have always had a nice graphical bootsplash.
Recently, I was able to get a used Samsung 213T, also a 21" LCD monitor whose native resolution is also 1600x1200. Since both it and my video card (an nVidia 7800GS) support DVI, I connected it up using a DVI cable.
Now, when I boot, instead of a graphical bootsplash, I get the message "You have passed an invalid mode number". I haven't changed anything but the cable connection to the monitor and the monitor itself. If the mode number was valid before, why is it invalid now? I checked my GRUB boot line, and it is passing "vga=0x346". This used to work but now it suddenly doesn't.
Any ideas on why this is suddenly not working? I am stumped! Thanks.
