Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

yes, it should be possible via yast (system update/upgrade). although people have different opinions about this upgrade... if you have the choice, especially in the case of separate /home, /data, etc. partitions, you should just make a fresh and clean install of 10.3. I did it already. In my case it took ca. 20-30 min via network and additional 3-4 hrs to configure the system. perhaps this is the better option....
I have upgraded from suse 10 to opensuse 10.2 and then to opensuse 10.3 via network, on a live system, without any serious issue. Be prepared for some fighting with package dependencies, if you update everything from yast.
to be on the safe side, you could also do the following:
1) remove all packages from other sources as e.g., packman, guru, etc. (if you want to do an upgrade)
2) download the mini.iso for installing 10.3 over the network
3) burn it via k3b onto a CD
4) boot with that cd
5) choose "upgrade" during install OR if you have separate /home, /data, etc. partitions do a "new install"
6) install or upgrade
7) include again packman, guru, etc.
