libGL.so.1.2 is too small

Hi, Trying desperately to install ati driver in SuSE. For 9600SE Card.

My steps were as follows:

1. dl and run check.sh. Discovered:

Detected configuration:
Architecture: i686 (32-bit)
X Server: Xorg 6.8.1

2. dl file: rpm fglrx_6_8_0-8.12.10-1.i386.rpm from ATI site. This is the one for Xorg.

3. Switched to console ctrl alt f1

4. Switch to root user.

5. Issued command init 3, swicted to run level 3 reached.

6. cd <to dir where rpm is>

7. Used ls to make sure it was there. Was

8. Issued command rpm -Uhi --force fglrx_6_8_0-8.12.10-1.i386.rpm

9. Watched install 100% 100% then...

10. /sbin/ldconfig: File /usr/X11R6/lib/FGL.renamed.libGL.so.1.2 is too small, not checked.

Have been searching google for answer but not much luck found a similar problem but senario differs by using XFree instead of Xorg.

Will someone please tell me what libGL is? Is it the Open GL library? I am scared to ask these extra questions though as they will be answered instead of getting my problem fixed.

I am not trying to be snide, but I have posted similar questions and got answers like : just dl the ones from SuSE (not necessarily from this site). Which, as you can imagine, did me no good.

If libGl was enlarged would it help? How would I do this? Am I missing some sort of development tool?

I would be very grateful if I could get this working.

yes, its the OpenGL library, and I'm wondering why its to small?

anyways, are you sure it was a error? (error as in the install process stopped, and didn't finish)

anyways, what happens if you ignore this message and continue to the configuration?

The installation stops and lsmod | grep fglrx renders nothing.

I do not get the the prompt run fglrxconfig.

can you try the install again? (just to be safe), if that same error happens, try typing "/sbin/ldcofig" after a few seconds. The error should be harmless tho.

Delete the file /usr/X11R6/lib/FGL.renamed.libGL.so.1.2
And there is no error
