LAMP setup on suse 10.0
 

I'm in the process of exploring the idea of creating a web based knowledge base for where I work at and I'm leaning towards a LAMP set up to do this.

as it stands now we really don't have a Knowledge base at all except for some word docs we have that I swear are scattered all over the place and almost makes it impossible to find an answer unless you know right where to look.

I have SuSe 10.0 on my machine at home and I'm interested in setting it up so I can create this KB and see how it works, Hopefully make it work really well and then show my Boss.

I'm also in need of some guidance on how to set up a lamp system on my suse 10.

Can anyone give me some pointers and or links to web sites and books?

I'd greatly appreciate it.

Dont know what version of suse you are using, so there maybe is a problem with phpMyAdmin, you might have to download (or compile) it separately.

When installing php, remember to install also these packages:
php-session , you'll need the session support sooner or later
php-mbstring , not really a needed package, but phpMyAdmin gives you a warning without it.

the lamp for a kb is a great idea, and you can run it on a lower powered or older pc as well, then depending on what you use (a forum, a cms system?) you can easily schedule the database be copied to another machine w/backup capabilities

Thanks for the advice, as far as my OS goes, this one here at home is Suse 10.0.
Now it's off to look at the LAMP article and see if I can actually get it going tonight before bed.
