ktorrent closes unexpectantly

I have Suse 10.0 and ktorrent
I think it's the default version of ktorrent that comes with 10.0
I'm download the 10.2 DVD image
A few times, ktorrent disappears, I guess it crashes.
I have restart it to continue to download.

Why doesn't it show a registry dump window and a error message?

I have ktorrent 1.1rc1, the default on Suse 10.0
I downloaded 2.0 binaries, but missing 10 or so libs. Ah!
OK, never mind

Ktorrent or Azureus

I cant explain the crashes, but have you tried using Azureus. I have always found Ktorrent to be quite slow. You could always run uTorrent under Wine.

Azureus (beta 3) from packman is stable, and seems quite quick, although it is beta, so expect a few surprises from time to time. (If it closes for no reason, just delete the config files in .azureus, in your home dir - that will usually solve it). Can be heavy on your system as java based.

Utorrent v1.6 running under Wine is very stable and very quick. I like the built in scheduler, like in Ktorrent. (u need a plugin for Azureus). Very light on system.

These are my experiences, hope they help you in some way.

Yes, but I need to continue my download. It is at 2.03 GB, DVD image of Suse 10.2

Ktorrent version 1.x is prone to crashing. Upgrade to version 2.x and you should be fine.

I was able to compile the new korrent, after I downloaded and compiled GMP which it said it needed.

Then I downloaded the same thing for my old computer.
The only weird thing is that I downloaded the GMP on my old P3 450Mhz and compiled but it quickly dumped a error message. Maybe C++ files need to be updated. Can't compile ktorrent on that one.
I'll give "Utorrent v1.6 running under Wine" a try

You could also run it from the command line. I've often done that to figure out why something is crashing. It will give you all the messages while still running until it actually stops.

Try that.

I am pretty sure ktorrent 1.1 is not able to handle files above 2GB
Even the temporary file was 2GB
I think when I started the download the crashes were less likely. Probably everytime a section above 2GB arrived, ktorrent shutdown. Perhaps Linux pulled the plug on this process.

uTorrent was interesting but didn't feel like updating wine on that P3 450MHz

Azureus! Now I have seen the light!
This Java based beautiful program doesn't need to be compiled and only requires JRE 1.5!
My GOD Novell, stop putting the trillions of useless stuff I never heard of, and put this 9MB thing in your 3.6GB download.

Yes, Azureus rox!

It is the way applications should be done, in my opinion. Cross-platform, easy install, nice updates and good UI.

Glad you found it.
