keyboard problem
Hi everybody.
I have a problem: I've just updated some rpm and now my keyboard doesn't work. It's not an hardware failure because I'm writing this post (in Windows  ). During boot the keyboard works but when X starts and kdm is launched I can't write my password. One of the rpms that I updated was lineaK, don't know if this could be the cause. How to remove lineakd from automatic start at boot? What could cause the keyboard problem? Thank you -- M_Barbieri |
Are you sure the keyboard doesn't react? Maybe the password doesn't show-up and you need to type it blind (I remember there is a setting in the KDE control center to set this).
If you have a keyboard outside of X, you can try and check the X logfiles: /var/log/XFree86.0.log, /var/log/kdm.log, ~/.X.err, ~/.xsession-errors Sorry, I can't be more specific about the file, since I don't know where this type of error is logged. |

Any idea? |
If you are using Grub to boot,
edit the root= line and add "single" to boot into the single mode. I have a similar problem after installing kdm to Ubuntu; Try gdm or xdm. Both work fine in Ubuntu. |
