Keyboard Config

Problem: Keyboard won't config properly and when I try to change the layout, it doesn't save through a reboot or end session. Even when using root permissions. When I set it up during the initial install, I made sure it was English (US), but for some reason, whenever I try to use Linux, it boots up and while it still says that it's English (US), it's actually using a German layout. It's quite annoying, so if somebody could tell me what/where to change these settings manually, because the control panel isn't doing it properly.

Suse 9.2
Kernel 2.6

Thanks.

Um, not as familiar with Suse as I should be, so this may not be leading in you in the right place. In /etc/X11 you should have a file called XF86config or xorg.conf ( assuming there's an /etc/X11 ), in that file will be a section "InputDevice" one of those will have an identifier "Keyboard0", in there should be the keyboard layout or XkbLayout, change that to "us"

If all else fails, try doing a locate on keyboard | grep config or something like that to see if there is a system tool for it.
