I have tried that already and reach a hurdle there as well. Suse running on my laptop gets fussy when I attempt to install the gcc from RPM. It does this weird thing where it shows the install window for a brief second then it disappears. I'm pretty sure at the speedy that I saw the window, the program was never installed. For whatever reason this is happening, I don't know.

just as an idea, install apt configure your sources and install gcc over apt-get

Should work fast and easy, and at the same time you can enjoy a sneak of the great package management that debian has.

Just a FYI... ordered SuSE 9.2 Pro from Novell about two weeks ago and got it last Saturday. It is being shipped as we speak.
