KDE 4.1 OpenSuSE 11.0 Plasma and other major components do not respond after update.

After a update of KDE 4.1 (and other packages) on 06.11.2008 major components of KDE do not respond.

Desktop is shown but clicking on it has no effect.
The bar at the bottom does not respond either, except for the system tray. Icons of apps in the task bar, although placed improperly do respond as they should.

Alt-Tab works. All of the open, active windows work properly.

Yakuake responds to keys. (The only way to open any application is to run it from shell).

Yast2 runs, however is not usable. Trying to run anything in yast2 has no
effect.

Desktop effects work properly.

Does anyone know what to do?

thanks

suggestions:
clear out the kde4 cache and tmp dirs ~/.kde4/tmp-xxxx and ~/.kde4/cache-xxxx (where xxxx is the name assigned to the computer (?))
and then restart kde

That was one of the first things I did. Didn't work.

However I have found a weird solution. It seems that the system tray was responsible. After removing it everything works fine.

What the hell is with that system tray??

EDIT:
I found out what was the problem.
libqt4 was in a wrong version. I had to download it from the KDE 4.1 Qt repo, and now everything works fine

thanks for the help
