Hi, i have this motherboard k8n neo platinum running with suse linux 9.2 (FTP). The system boots fine after changing the boot loader config files as it origionally set itself to boot off the second SATA disk,

The problem is the on board network, if anyone knows how i can work the onboard lan this would be great,

What is wrong with the NIC? What does YaST say it is? Is there an error? More info is needed to help you.

Ok, yast does not detect the card.

produced something about loading module forcedeth.c

gave something about module forcedeth not found.

I dont really know what im doing, but how will i be able to load the module/make yast aware of the card?

What other system info would be of help here?

Ok, we were unable to get the card auto recognised by yast.


if anyone else is having a similar problem

In Network devices > network card add a new card manually
IN the section 'module name' type 'forcedeth'
Press next and then the card will work. At this point enter static IP address details if required as usual

My K8N Neo4 Platinum has 2 gigabyte etherent connections and Suse found both, one forcedeth and other sk98lin. However both are running extremely slow at connecting to sites on the internet. Did you have any speed issues with yours once you got it working?

I'm trying to get my network card working on my new Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop w/ SuSE 9.2, and maybe network didn't work out of the box was because there is both an ethernet card and a wireless card installed in my laptop.


I also have a K8N Neo4 Platinum as my motherboard for my desktop, but I run Debian on there and I never had any problems. The only thing is that it uses the lower RJ-45 jack and if I plug in to the upper jack, it will do nothing. Why do I even need 2 ethernet ports on my mobo anyway? :confused:
