Internal Card reader causes system hang at boot.
 

Hi everyone -- pretty well ALL current linuxes seem to hang on boot of a Philips X59 Laptop -- actually a "re-badged Twinhead F11Y". I get the same problem with the KNOPPIX live CD (Knoppix normally will recognize all hardware). Acronis stand alone system restore also will hang on boot if you select the "Full" and not the "Safe" version. The "Safe" version won't access any drivers such as USB or network discs so if you have your backup image on a usb device you are stuck.

Using Windows VISTA the device causing the problem is the O2Micro integrated MMC/SD controller and the integrated MMC/MSPRO controller.
The Windows drivers can be downloaded from the German Twinhead site (http://www.twinhead.de) -- select support and choose F11Y. Maybe some guru out there can "reverse" engineer the windows driver to work on SUSE.

Disabling stuff at boot time doesn't seem to work either as it always stops at "Unknown device".


Hopefully someone will fix this as this 11.1 inch laptop is really nippy and light - excellent for travelling with but I want to get away from 'Doze.
