Installing wireless network adaptor.
I have a machine with dual boot, Win98SE and SuSE 8.2. I connect to the internet via a wireless modem router and an ADSL connection. The computer connects to the router using an X-micro USB wireless adapter. It works ok in Windows, but I am not sure how to set it up in Linux.
I emailed the manufacturers who don't officially provide Linux drivers. However, they emailed me a driver Drv-XWL11gUZX-V4715.rar with no support or warranty. I know very little about Linux...could somebody please explain to me in idiot's language how to install and set up the driver. I have tried using YaST but it only seemed to enable me to add other packages from my original CD. When I tried to change the source I could not locate the driver file (which is in home/documents) I'd appreciate a (jargon free) helping hand Robin |
I believe a .rar file is a windows file. I have no experience with usb wireless. Sorry I can't help.

For starters, I would decompress the rar file (unrar is available for linux) and look at the contents. See if there are instructions inside. You could also copy the file to a Windows machine and unzip it there. It would help if you gave us a glimpse at the contents.
