Hi everyone I am new to Linux so please bear with me.
Now I downloaded the 5 CDs, extracted it to my hard drive, then highlighted it and right clicked it then selected send to my cd rom burner to burn it on to a cd. Now i did that with all the cd files. then I tried to install it.
When it came to installing I figured it would be the same way as I did windows xp pro. I placed CD 1 in the cd rom and restarded my pc. now the boot sequence is cd first then floppy then hard drive. but it seems to just start my windows os. now I also tried to use CD 2 in the drive to see if it will start the instalation process from that cd.
Ok now i am looking all over the internet to see if any one else is going through this but it seems not. The sight seems to be the best place to ask for help.
This is my pc info :
AMD sempron 3000 2.0 gig
asus mother board with nvidia chips
2 hard drives both 40 gig each and both with win xp pro
1 gig of ram
Take a look at the contents of the CD. If it only shows 1 big file instead of lots of files, then you haven't created the CD correctly. You may need to use Nero or something similar to "Burn CD from Image file", then the CD will be bootable. This procedure will vary depending on which program you are using to create the CD's.

ok it s in a bunch of files and some folders but maybe i should use a burning software. I will use " burn 4 free " I cant see this working any different then when i select send to. I used send to number of times for movies and files before.thanks dude for the help.
I was not to open it or extract it. when i down load it i was to just burn that exact file not use win rar. that file ends in iso. im so dumb but this is for evry else to know.
IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE FILES FROM NOVELL DO NOT OPEN IT OR ANYTHING JUST MAKE SHURE YOU TAKE THE FILE AS IS AND BURN IT TO A CD. NOW I WILL TEST TO SEE HOW IT WORKS WHEN I RESTART MY PC WITH THE CD IN THE CD DRIVE.
i have another problem. the problem I am having is that it can see the cd. I was wondering if I should do a safe install?
When i restart my pc i have cd1 in the burner but then when i click to install it says no cd . so i decided to place the cd in the dvd drive. but then it goes like this:
TRYING TO MOUNT THE CD ROM >>MAKE SHURE THAT CD NUM 1 IS IN YOUR DRIVE>> SO I TAKE IT OUT PLACE IT BACK IN>> CLICK OK >>TRYING TO MOUNT THE CD ROM >> IN RED COLOR "UNABLE TO MOUNT THE CD ROM."
Anyone know what to do? I tried to call novell but i havnt been able to register my suse i havnt been able to install it. I tried also network install with the cd1 of the 5 cds but cant find my network card. my nic is intergraded with my motherboard it uses invedia drivers because the motherboard uses those chips.
