Installing GTK using YaST

Hi there,

I'm trying to install GTK using YaST in SuSE 9.3 and I can't seem to get anywhere. When I open YaST and run Online Update I run a search for gtk I can't do anything else from there. All the GTK searches are there in the upper right hand window but when I click on Accept to install those it just says that nothing is selected. I can't seem to select any of the packages from that list, what do I do?

Is it possible to install GTK from YaST or am I going about it the wrong way?

I think you didn't select any package. The way you're doing it is ok, but you have to SELECT the packages you want to install and then accept it. Click in the box next to them.

Open up YaST and select "Change Installation Source"

Select "HTTP"

In the source field type: packman.iu-bremen.de

In the directory field type: suse/9.2

Select "Accept"

Open "Install / Remove Software" (in YaST, or course). Type GTK in the search field and hit "Search."

It should show up in the results field.

I agree with SuSE05, except on the source. gtk is part of the standard SuSE distribution and can be found on the main SUSE server and its mirrors.

In general, use 'Install and Remove Software' for installing new packages and 'Online Update' for updating existing packages.
