Installing 10.1

Ok I am a newbie and I may very well be doing it all wrong. When I try to install I get to the end of cd one and it reboots. I begin right back where I started. duh because my bios is still set to boot to cd. I try to boot to cd 2 and I get insert cd 1. OK I try all the options an CD one but dont see anything that says resume install. OK I think maybe if I boot ot the hard drive it might resume. But it tells me no operating system found. Well, I'm stumped.

Okay, it works like this.
Stop the install of 10.1, that is still not released software, it is testing software, if you aren't highly experienced with Linux and specifically previous SuSE versions don't try to install the test builds. Download 10.0 or OpenSUSE, which have actually been released, and are ready for use by new and experienced users alike. Then do the install.

Okay, now for the actual install, when it reboot at the end of CD1 install, LEAVE IT IN. Do not change any bios settings, just let it will reboot. When it reboots, it will pull up what it needs to then prompt you automatically for CD 2, then 3, then 4, then 5, then it will ask for alot of configuration and testing, and then if you can get it working, be sure to update at this point, makes things a lot easier. Then it will reboot again, and load up ready to use.

I tried installing like that but it just boots back to the install screen and starts the process all over again.

If you read some of the recent posts on this forum you will find that you are not alone! I solved my similar problem by choosing the install with the option 'install with ACPI disabled'. That did the trick! See the thread i started about this:

Give that a try
