Installed Geckolinux Lxqt. Updating broke Battery Monitor program.

Hi. The installation of Geckolinux Lxqt onto my laptop went fairly well (the recommended installer crashed trying to format an existing swapfile area on disk) but applying the latest updates caused a few problems. The battery monitor program/application for example stopped working, which is serious for a laptop.

I tried booting with alternative GeckoLinux kernels but that had it's own problems and anyway did not return the battery monitoring function.

I have just reinstalled the Gecko 42.2 Static but not applied any updates at all.
Any suggestions anybody?
Regards
