Installation problems with Suse 10.2 and USB keyboard

I just got a new computer (Dell Dimension E520) and it has no PS/2 ports. When I boot up the Suse 10.2 install CD, I cannot change the default option which is boot from the hard drive. I have looked at numerous forums and tried many things, among them:

1. holding the shift key to do a text based installation, but it always goes back to the boot screen (in which i cannot change the default boot option)
2. checking the BIOS to enable USB peripherals during boot (there is no option as far as I can tell)

I would really like to install Suse, does anyone have any ideas how I could by pass this?

Thanks
