installation problems 9.1 on Tyan Tiger K8W

I'm using the 64 bit DVD edition of Suse 9.1 pro and I'm trying to
install it on my rig!

During installation it hangs on different moments... Have tested all
components with different OS and tolling and they seem to be ok.. Even
the memtest has been completed correctly! It is not traceable when the
rig hangs.. but most of the times it hangs during the package
installation... It doesn't matter if you use minimal install or the
full install. It also says it does not support dual CPU's

My rig:

Tyan Tiger K8W
Dual AMD Opteron 244
2 GB Corsair (4 *512 Mb) DDR 400 ECC Reg Low Latency
4 * WD 360 10K RPM
Plextor 116A DVD Player
Leadtek Winfast A360 FX5700 257 MB

Partioning:

1 boot partition on sda as /dev/sda1/ of 88 MB formatted with Reiser

4 swap partitions on /dev/sda2/, /dev/sdb1/, /dev/sdc1/, /dev/sdd1/ of
388 MB each

4 raid partitions
on /dev/sda3/, /dev/sdb2/, /dev/sdb2/, /dev/sdc2/, /dev/sdd2/ of 34 GB
each in a Raid 5 setup as /dev/md0 formatted with reiser as the root
partition.

It doesn't matter if I use minimum or maximum install it hangs on
different moments and times..

Whe it hangs I mean that it stops installing the packages, the mouse is
still useable. the buttons on the screen are clickable but don't
respond.

One would think this is a hardware problem but using other OS it never
hangs and runs the different testing programs such as prime95 and
futuremark 3d05 for days without any problems. Even the 32bit Suse 9.1
memtest runs fine four days!

Is it the DVD or the dvdplayer? Maybe that's not a good copy. The 64-
bit DVD shows no memtest option.

any ideas to install 9.1 in a dual setup?

or do you need more information?

I'm not a linux guru! just a simple newbe with 2 years experience on 3
different lniux rigs.. This is my first dual and raid installation..

I've installed it!!! pfew but now it hangs after 3-5 minutes when logged on into kde....

tss.. it's either still the acpi or the network or the cpu that's faulty.. any ideas how to trace it?
