Installation of suse linux 10.0
Hi there
I would like to install Suse linux 10.0 on my sony vaio laptop (model PCG 992l). Prsently Win professional is running on the laptop and I would like to convert (i do not want to ve dual boot, i would like to install linux without partitioning the hard disk) it into a linux OS. I have got a Suse linux 10.0 dvd and my system hangs when I attempt to install it. I made the system boot thru CD/DVD ROM and tried to install suse, it loads linux kernel, the installation proceeds normally and then hangs after a minute - i found a coupla thgs that probably might cause the freezing - 1. out of memory killed by process 1966 (sometimes 1971) and then few thgs come up on the screen such as Highmem: empty swap cache: add 0, delete 0, find 0/0, race 0+0 free swap = 0kb total swap = 0 kb 65152 pages of RAM 0 pages of HIGHMEM 1466 reserved pages 37 pages shared 0 pages swap cached 0 pages dirty 0 pages writeback 17 pages mapped 4552 pages slab 2 pages pagetables and then the system hangs - If you figure out something outta this, kindly let me know. Thanks very much for the help, I really appreciate it Selvi Subramanian |
