install problem

I have just built a AMD64bit system and want to dual boot it ( my old computer was dual boot , XP Home & SuSe 9.2 pro ).
I have installed windows successfully and then I installed 9.2 pro, it failed the Internet test and I continued with the install and it said it was successfully installed.
When I came to boot it, the information on the screen got to Waiting for mandatory devices eth-bus-pci-0000:00:0e:0 and started a countdown from 20 to 0 then the next 2 lines read failed.
and it just did nothing.
So I rebooted and selected windows and no problems.
I tried a new install 3 times (twice 32bit and once 63bit) and the same problem every time.
I had no problem installing 9.2 on my old computer can anyone shed any light on what is causing this problem.
My set up is AMD643500-Abit AX8 mobo-2gb (2 x 1gb) Crucial ram
XFX6600gt PCI-E graphics- 2 x 80gb Maxtor SATA drives.

Hi Alan

Looks like your ethernet card is not set up properly.
Are you using a on board ethernet port or is it a separate card? Which chip/card is detected by the kernel?

Oherwise, I had a similar problem with my on board broadcom card and SuSE 9.1. Dowloading the latest kernel rpm from Suse (see patch directory) via windows and the applying the patch by hand resolved it
