Unhappy instaling modem

Hi every body
Sorry. I’m newbie to Linux.
I have installed Microsoft windows XP and then SUSE 9.3 on my computer.
The 9.3 version of SUSE is very cool. I can real (mount as read-only) NTFS partition and play mp3 and lots of audio and video format. Its GUI is really good.
But I have a big problem. I have a creative DI5663 modem and I cannot use it in Linux. I’ve read some documents about winmodems and linmodems but I’m looking for (at least a document that describe the step by step modem installation) an easier way.
Even I a ready to by another modem (I prefer the internal PCI ones) that have driver for Linux. Which modems are supported now?
Thanks in advance

you can also choose to buy a hardware modem, then you don't need any drivers for linux, but you will need drivers for windows (they come with the modem).
A hardware modem has it's own chipset which does all the work, leaving your cpu free for other things.
Look for terms like "hardware modem" or "serial modem" or "hayes compatible modem". I bought mine at www.e-tech.nl, and had it working under linux 5 mn after I opened the box. For windows was also easy, just installed the drivers from the e-tech cd.
