I can't login in graphic mode anymore

I can't , with a user ( not root) in graphic mode . I installed some programs in X(the last one was skype) , and then I closed the session , and when I tried to relogin with that user it tried to start grahic mode but didn't succed and it put me back to the login for the grpahic mode screen . I tried many times but I couldn't relogin with that user . I can only login with root now . When I try to login in text mode ,with the user that doesn't login in X , it works , so I can log on in text mode with that user nut not in X server .Could anyone tell me what the problem is ? Can I somehow repair this ?

I have had this happen as well. As a first step, try creating a brand new user while logged in as root, and then see if that new user will log in normally to KDE. If this is the case, your system is intact, and it is something specific to your current user account that is the source of the problem.

Typically, the behaviour you described is the result of a KDE crash. Since you haven't completed the login yet, I would guess that KDE is attemting to autostart something that crashes and burns, taking KDE with it.

Check your ~/.kde/Autostart directory to see what if anything may be going on there. I would also look at your ~/.xinitrc file for the same sort of thing - you may not HAVE a .xinitrc file, but it is another place where things can be autostarted when you login. Finally, check your ~/.profile file - yet another place where things can be autostarted.

In all cases, assuming the new user I asked you to create initially is working OK, you are hunting for something in your current user account that is getting autostarted with KDE, but isn't working properly. Good luck!

Well, I was able to create an other user and to log in. The program which was the problem was ymessenger , so I clicked its icon , and it started to reinstall itself with the usual wizard . this time I didn't check the "Sart automatically when Kde starts" checkbox :) . Still I was able to run it only once .Now ymessenger doesn't start anymore, I tried to reinstall it with "rpm -i .." but it says that the package is allready installed, and when Itry ro uninstall it with "rpm -el.." it says that the package is not installed .Yast says it's protected and I shouldn't delete it from Yast . Can I reinstall it somehow ?

got the solution :, just erase ~/.xinitrc when root and evrything works as before :)
