HP zv6000 unable to get net access
 

Hi

I've given up on trying to install mandriva and have opted for Suse10.0

Install went great, however it was unsuccessful in the network detection test

booted up and was able to surf the net using firefox for about 2 minutes, after that all I got was unable to retrieve website or words to that effect

There is another computer running Suse 10 that has no problems surfing the net, it just seems to be this laptop. It has however detected my realtek RTL8139 ethernet NIC, just cant seem to get any net access

seems strange because I can boot up mandriva live and get websites straight away

Any help or guidance would be great

I'm also unable to access localhost and my router by typing in their IP addresses into firefox, still having no luck on getting an internet connection

problem solved

opened up realplayer to play some music, then it prompted me to check for updates online. wasn't expecting it to work due to not being able to access the net but I gave it a try

It opened up firefox at the realplayer website, and everything now works fine. Not quite how that worked out, but it might be of some help to other linux newbies

Realplayer saves the day :)
