Howto put iso file on harddrive

I donloaded suse 9.2 dvd-iso,but i dont have dvd writer so i was wondering if i can "unzip" it somehow to harddrive? and make the installlation from some folder. So howto untar isofile to disk

acid_kewpie 01-15-2005 12:09 PM

you don't untar them, you mount them

mount -o loop file.iso /mnt/iso

assuming /mnt/iso already exists as an empty directory

aaaaaaaaa..sorry im still in windoze. So can i start installation with suse mini installation cdrom and somehow point to the hda folder where the iso is.

that part of it i've never looked at. I *believe* it's possible, but the method would have to involve things i'm not aware of, as i'd have no idea how it would work...

So is it possible to mount iso as cdroms in linux? Wow.... Never knew linux could do that. You need alcohol or nero for windows..

js72 01-15-2005 05:05 PM

Ok ok howto do it with nero (never used alcohol as software)

Nukem 01-15-2005 05:36 PM

You need nero 6 Ultra (that's what I have). It's called image drive. If you installed nero you should have a link to the image drive in the control panel. But If you want to use that to boot from it, like to say install linux for example, you cant. It's there only untill windows is running... Same story with alcohol. Except with alcohol you will just go into mycomputer and right click on the imaginary drive and click on mount image.
