How to connect to my Broadband provider

I'm about 2 hours in to my first ever SUSE v10 session. The first 1.5 hours was taken installing!

As a complete newbie I can't connect to the Internet. My eth0 is configured and OK. I've run YaST Network devices and the DSL configuration selecting connect at boot. I need to enter a Usename/Password to access my ADSL and these are entered correctly. The KNetwork Manager says I connected (I have DHCP set as provided by my service provider, which is correct). But I'm still not able to access the Internet.

To write this post I'm using the Koppix LiveCD and connecting using the Koppix ADSL/PPPoE utility and that works 100%. How can I do the same in SUSE? Remember I'm a total Linux novice so I need basic and full help!

Are you connecting through an adsl router?

If so you shouldn't need to enter any settings (adsl or passord etc) - as it is the network card which does the internet or do you have a pci adsl modem?.

It's a rather complex set up. My ethernet card connects to an Access Point and this in turn bridges to a commercial wireless network. I have to enter a User Name and Password to gain access to the WLAN. However although the deliver is wireless it works as a dial up wired ethernet solution on my laptop. Knoppix seems to handle this very well (I'm using their LiveCD to write this) but whilst SUSE 10.1 claims to connect to the WLAN it doesn't allow any Internet traffic. DHCP etc is supplied over the WLAN.

Ideally I'd like to transfer the Knoppix ADSL PPPoE utility to my SUSE 10.1 installation but haven't a clue how to identify or install it. Remember I'm a complete newbie - so don't know anything about Linux but luckily I do understand my network and how it functions.
