How to change the hashing algorithm used for passwd


I am working on SLES 10 and i have to change the hashing algorithm used to store the password. In which file the algorithm settings are available so that i will make the changes permanent.

It might by in /etc/login.defs. However, use YaST and change it there. There may also be changes needed in /etc/security/ and/or PAM configurations.

YaST is so powerful,
but it hide too much things for a suse beginner like me.
