How Do I Delete My Tracks?

I know Cron is set up to do some cleaning of its own, although I'm not sure of what that consists of. Anyway, I'd like to know how to delete stuff such as past searches for files/folders and other unnecessary crap that might be present on my HDD--say, leftovers from uninstallations or unused files/folders. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Clean your tmp with cron.

Yast2 > Systems > /etc/sysconfig editor
system > cron > CLEAR_TMP_DIRS_AT_BOOTUP change from "no" to "yes"

I don't have that option. Can I edit the configuration file manually? If so, where is it?
