How do I configure my Graphics card with SUSE 10.2

First of all I would like to say "WOW" Suse 10.2 is a huge improvement from 9.3 I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw that my multifunction printer was recognized and had all of the functions.

I also love the new desktop.

Well now I want to try out the 3D capabilities of SUSE 10.2 desktop and I have a Visiontek 9250 graphics card.

I removed it before installing SUSE 10.2 to make sure that I didnt have any problems, now I want to use this card. Can someone tell me how to configure it and then how to use the 3D desktop feature?

thanks.

i don't really know how to add a card per se, but you use sax2 to configure video cards. Also, in SuSE 10.2, there should be an option for "desktop effects" under the control panel. try those two first..

ok whenever I go to the menu bar I see a thing that says configure desktop.

How do I activate that 3D cube desktop that I saw in the suse website in the video??

DO you use that type of desktop?

Installing the video card is easy ... install the card then boot to runlevel 3 and run sax2 (as root) it will detect your card and monitor ... then you'll need to install the driver for your card if its an nvidia or ati... I think intell drivers are included ... once thats done follow this link for xgl

http://en.opensuse.org/Using_Xgl_on_SUSE_Linux

that should get you up and running ... I'm using beryl with my nvidia card on my laptop (old dell 8600) and it works fine ...
