Host own web site with Suse 10.2

I wish to host my own web site,

I use suse 10.2. The site I wish to host is pretty basic. I would really appreciate any guidance in how to go about setting my machine up as a server. The very basics are necessary as I don't have a clue.

Thanks in anticipation.

have a look for a web server, most commonly used is apache2

also consider the upload speed of the internet connection the server will be attached to, as a clients download = servers upload! give a content rich page (images, etc.) * the number of users you could have at the same time... personally i would not suggest hosting a web server (or any other publicly available server) an a home broadband connection... <- just something to think about :-)

Thanks thats something to chew over. I will give it some thought. Have just found some documentation on the samba server, got a lot of reading to do though. I will how far I get.
Thanks

samba is not a web server!! but you should find that out for yourself when reading the documentation :-P
