Help! Wrong monitor settings!

Is there a way to change the monitor setting in text mode? My SuSe 9.3 install has the wrong monitor settings and I can't see a thing if I log in graphically!

Thanks!

EDIT
****************

I tried running sax2, but it hangs/freezes up my system?

I have FEDORA Core 4 installed on one PC, but it wouldn't install on my new one:

Asus P5AD2-E Premium
1024 MB RAM
2x80 gig SATA hdd's
ATI AIW x600 Pro Video Card

I dont know much about suse, but i would fisrt check the moniter section of XF86Config-4 file
if you use xorg i have no idea where it wold be a locate xorg should pull something..

anyway as for XF86Config

Code:
nano /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
or pico, or joe whatever you favorite edit or is

look for something like this

Code:
Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Generic Monitor"
        HorizSync 30-55
        VertRefresh 50-120
        Option "DPMS"
EndSection
thats where you horizontal / vertical settings are

check the manufactures website first if possble to see what settings your moniter has.
you could also try

Code:
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

hope that helps

/etc/X11/XF86Config-4
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

I'll try those out. I have tried just about everything else. YaST, editing xorg.conf, etc. Right now I am reinstalling, because of this AND that I still had DEBIAN on that HD I am using. I have tried a LOT of distro's looking for the one that will work on this system. SuSe is the only one RIGHT NOW that can recognize the PCI 10/100/1000Base on-board! So far I have tried Knoppix, SuSe, Debian, Fedora Core 4, and FreeBSD.

I have fallen in love with FC4 on my older computer! I Really wish it would work on my new one! I could then TOTALLY get rid of Windoze XP!!

Thanks!

Found it! If anyone else is having this problem!!

RIGHT AT THE LAST SCREEN BEFORE THE SYSTEM REBOOTS ANS STARTS!

There is a way to configure your Graphics card AND monitor! For some reason SuSe was saying my monitor was "PTW" or something like that. There is a button where you can configure the settings,

!!DON'T HIT THE DELETE BUTTON!!

Just hit the "PROPERTIES" or "CONFIGURE" (can't remember which one right now!) button and then you can find your monitor in the list.

Works Great!

Like I said before, this is the ONLY distro that I have tried that works with ALL the stuff on my MOBO!

Thanks!
