Having trouble installing .rpm's using yast

Hi,

I've been trying to install some software (wxPython, xine, libdvdcss) using yast and it seems like it does not get installed. I usually download the rpm and then click on it and the "Install using yast" button appears which I click, I then enter the root password, and yast seems to do its' thing. Also lately yast doesnt even go throught the installation windows, just goes to the search for packages in yast. What should I do? Is it a bad install? I did accidentally update the kernel through yast and then reverted back if that matters.

i think i had the same problem yesterday, i was trying to install an application from the desktop, and i had the same symptoms.
i did copy the .rpm file to a temp directory on the root, and installation completed successfully.
worked for me, hope it will work for u also.

Just tried that, per your recommendation, but it still goes to the yast search for packages window.

My problem was FAT32...

I found that if I downloaded the RPM onto a FAT32 partition, YAST wouldn't install it. The same RPM on a linux (ReiserFS) partition works perfectly when I click "Install with YAST" from Konqueror.
