Graphics trouble with 9.1 after todays online-update ...

Hi@all ...

Just want to let you know, that there is a little bit trouble cominī to some of you.
Why?
I have an nvidia ge-force 5600 EQ with 256 MB/128 bit (DSUB/TV/DVI).
As I love to play UT2003, I wanted the full support for that card.

So I downloaded
1.) NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run
2.) cd /usr/src/linux
make cloneconfig
make prepare-all

3) sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run -q --kernel-source-path=/usr/src/linux
4) sax2 -m 0=nvidia

I write this only down here for the people, who are in a hurry and donīt want to spend much time finding it again

After todays Yast-Online-Update, Yast installed a new kernel and some other packages (think, there was maybe a X-package updatet, too), with the result, that the xServer crashed an had no way to make it to the KDE login screen.

So - donīt panic (follow Ford ):
Goto "init 3", and redo just the steps descibed above.

I write it only to get the sweat from some faces

Greetz

Pete

thats why i only download certain things from you. its messes up alot of things, so its only advisable to download programs not libraries. hopefully 9.2 will fix my usb problem that upgrading 9.1 somehow messed up.

every time you update the kernel, through 'you' or any other way, you have to rebuild/install the nvidia module, thats just the facts of life with the nvidia binary module,
