firefox is funny

hi

I have opensuse 10.0 and a little strange problem with the firefox.
If I start my firfox with:
Code:
# firefox %u
then it doesn't open my default page http://www.google.com from the preferences.
it opens each time http://www.arizona.edu/

but if I start only with:
Code:
# firefox
then I get the default homepage.

knows someone why ?

greetings

when started like this (firefox %u) it apparently does some kind of keyword search - using the localized google site - if I type this here (Germany) I get to this site:
http://www.bvg.de/
this is also the first hit in google when I enter this (%u) as a search term in google.
I don't know why it does this and if it is a feature... - but why do you want to start it like this and not just as "firefox" without a parameter?

I've disabled in this way:
Code:
# cd /.mozilla/firefox/ccah7er4.default
# echo "user_pref("keyword.URL", "http://www.google.com/search?");" > user.js
now I get google main site !

I'm still baffled as to why you want to start up "firefox %u" instead of just firefox.
WHY?

WHY?
normally I start with only "firefox".
I've tried to start with firefox %u
was for me only the interested thing to know why

for sure, it has something to do with google.
it automatically redirects you to the "I feel Lucky" site that google would normally show you.
when you type just the u in the browser address field, it also comes up http://www.arizona.edu/
firefox must be programmed to use this google redirector

but MOZILLA doesn't do that !

greetings
