Execbuf while wedged

Hi,

I'm using Open Suse 11.3, every so often I get this message in the system log after several attempts at booting up:

45.124441] [drm:i915_gem_execbuffer] *ERROR* Execbuf while wedged

I've tried researching Google and the answers seem as mystifying as the
error message itself.

Can someone tell this neub in lay terms what the computer is complaining about and what the remedy might be?

thanks

Adriann

Is there a problem with your video? If not, it may not be something to worry about. Perhaps the drm or i915 module tried one setting, got an error so tried an alternative.

This lwn.net article has a description of the Graphics Execution Manager:

Talking Re: Execbuf while wedged

Hi jschiwal,

Thanks for the response! Ya know, now that you mention the video aspect, this computer was a freebee as it was scheduled for salvage. Most of the computers life was in a school computer lab, so I'm sure it spent a lot of 8/10 hour days running; I'll bet there was some abuse as well. Video is on the mobo, so it looks as if I'll be off looking for another card to install.

Thanks

Adriann
