Evolution Update!...(Downgrade :-()

FTP/DVD version of SuSE 9.2 on AMD64.

Using both YOU and directly downloading the evolution update (full and patchversion) and installing via YaST find that this rpm installs v1.4.x rather than v2.x. Of course this does not run (missing library), and also generates some package conflicts. I have also noticed some of update/downgrades where 2.4 kernel bits seem to be replacing 2.6 kernel bits. After twice having system rendered unusable by the update process I am wondering whether this is something peculiar to the FTP/DVD distribution, or a more general issue.

Has anyone experienced anything similar, searching forums here seems to indicate not?
