Evaluation Version Suse 10.0 -- No video
Hi there
Anyone know how to remove (or at least) the suse bootloader (grub I think) so I can reformat the Linux partitions created by Suse for use by windows? The installation of this distro went very well no problems whatsoever, even though being new to linux I execrcised some simple options such as bootloader default etc. When it was time to boot into KDE (or Gnome, I tried both) the boatloader came on as per usual selected Suse and a way we went including hearing the introductory music when KDE should display, except that the screen was totally blank and no GUI was displayed, my monitor warns me no video signal! What to do? I tried reinstalling suse several times but to no avail. Of course no error messages can be seen!
What I don't get is that the install process is eminently able to display its screens and the splash screen of the boatloader also displays correctly, so there can't be a problem with cable connections etc., if only because when booting into WinXP there is no problem. I suspect it might have something to do with my graphics driver, but without access to the system (remember, blank screen!) there is no way I can see my way clear to correct this.
Can anybody help? Oh, I also believe that the video is integrated on the motherboard, so no PCI video card.
My graphics card is VIA/S3G Unichrome IGP; Motherboard is Asus A7V400-MX; Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1000MHz; Memory: 479MB; Display Panel: NEC LCD 1760V
I actually installed the evaluation version 10.0
