ERROR: Could not find OpenSSL headers/libraries.

Hi All,

I am new to linux, I am trying to install rdesktop client on my laptop to connect to windows machines using RDP, it is giving hard time, giving errors.

Pls help me, on how to install this rdesktop, I am using SUSE desktop enterprise version.

To specify a path manually, use the --with-openssl option.

Welcome to LQ.

All you have to do is :

./configure --with-x
... and "configure will show these lines :
checking for X... libraries , headers
checking for OpenSSL directory... /usr

And next : run 'make' .

'openssl-devel' , 'xorg-x11-devel' must of course
already be installed before running './configure --with-x' :
# zypper in openssl-devel xorg-x11-devel
P.S.: /usr/local/ shouldn't be used for compiling.
/home/"username"/ is meant for that : Then 'configure'
and 'make' can be run as ordinary user.

openssl headers

I ran into this same problem. You need to have libssl-dev installed.
Then I ran ./configure and everything worked fine.
