Dual Head with a 17 and 15 " TFT

Hi,

I want o do a Xinerama with a 15 and a 17" TFT problem is
the 17 " screams for a 1280x1024 resolution
while the 15" wants a 1024x768.

I tried a bit with Sax2 but the only possible combination was that both run on 1024x768.
But I dont want that so I played a bit with the xorg.conf without Sax2 help.

This is my current xorg.conf

Does not work, the 15 " is the SaXDualMonitor but it runs with the 17" Size although i told it not to use.
So I get a totaly wrong picture
I manually filled in the screen 1 section in order to hae a special section for the 15" Monitor, but it does not comunicate with it.
As well as the Modes[1] section. I inserted it for the 17" because the 15" screen stopped working properly after i added the 1280x1024 resolution to the Modes[0] section.

Thanks for your help

Try adjusting this file where necessary, like change the nvidia driver to yours, change the PCI BusID to correct it for yours (this is for ONE nvidia dual head card---ignore/delete the intel device), insert your horiz and vert rates for your monitors, and your modelines, instead of 'nvidia auto select', will be like:
for screen 1:
modes "1280x1024,1024x768"
and screen two like this:
modes "1024x768,1280x1024"

I think that's all... OH - and in the server layout, change the 1600 to 1280.
Hope this helps you but if it doesn't work quite right, ask again

With this Configuration i have the 17" on the left side, I can use mouse and keyboard here.
On the 15" however I do have a complete other users I think.
The K-menu is not visible but i can see the bar itself. The only desktop Icon is the trash-can
Funny ^^
Oh the Option "Xinerama" is set off because if it is on it simply clones my 17" desktop to the 15" god knows why.

Ok I worked alot on it and now my conf is almost perfect, exactly what i wanted, much better than the normal Xinerama
You're great, thanks a lot

There are still are some bugs showing the picture.
I hope i can figure them out but i guess that is because of the missing ATI fglrx driver.
Anyway thank you very very much for your help.

Edit: One last thing, do you (or anybody else) know if it is possible to put a window from desktop1 to desktop2
ATM it is not possible

Thanks

Regarding your second-to-last post:
You *might* be getting a cloned desktop because you are not specifying the location of the second screen. That's what the x and y coordinates in the server layout are for.
Ya could try:
Code:
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
Screen 1 "Screen1" 1024 0
and use Xinerama, but add a line to server flags or somewhere:
Code:
Option "clone" "0"
if necessary.

Sounds like you are experiencing ONE desktop being stretched across both screens, because of the Trash icon being on the other screen. The way mine works is my main screen has the taskbar and K-menu, while the second screen has neither--it's just a screen, with no controls.
You should be able to mouse from one screen to the other by going off the right or left edge of the screen, and also; what do you mean by "A window from Desktop 1 to Desktop 2" ??

For any reason it now is like i have two X-Server clients.

My 17" shows the normal stuff i had before.

The 15" however is like im being logged in as another person. Its got all the features as Desktop1
Taskbar aswell. In the second desktop were 4 Workspaces when it opened first time.
My normal Desktop got only 2.

In my home/user are now two Desktop Icons "Desktop" and "Desktop1"

I can drag and drop as much text as I want but cant bring a window from one to another.

If I open amarok i.e its systray-icon is only shown in the taskbar where i opened it and it is impossible to put the window to the Desktop where i did not open it.

I kind of like this Like it is now i can switch on and off the 2nd TFT as i need it, only the window things are curios. But normal i guess as there are 2 desktop links

Thanks

Sorry if this is confusing, i can send screenshots if it helps

EDIT: I think I just found the reason why I have two different Desktop Clients
I # the line Xinerama 1 in the server flags section.
oopps, still like it how it is now but i think i will try it with Xinerama on aswell
