dropbox in opensuse 11.1
 

Hey,

Did anyone have success getting dropbox (getdropbox.com) on opensuse 11.1? I installed from source, and did everything as on 11.0, but this time nothing is happening. I'm not sure where I could find any logs pertaining to what is happening during start up of gnome since dropbox does not start up....

Some clarifications

Which drop box are you referring here and what do you mean by it does not start up. The OS does load or the computer does not reboot?

The dropbox application referred to in the link provided. I installed from source but upon executing "killall nautilus" as root, the application does not start up, nor does rebooting help.

The OS is fine, just starting the application I am having issues with and I was wondering if anyone else had this issue on 11.1 since it worked perfectly on 11.0

I have the same issue here, and at least one more person reported the same thing in the dropbox forums.

I've tried a bunch of different builds, including compiling from sources, nothing seems to work so far

I found solutions somewhere over net (forgot to track link). But this is what I did
first run "xhost local:root" from run window (alt+f2).
then run "./.dropbox-dist/dropbox", this does the trick.

Not sure but I think first xhost command actually open firewall.

Worked perfectly aside from the executing the daemon by "./.dropbox-dist/dropboxd" - I have version 0.6.416 so that maybe it...
