Ditch the CDs

Hola,

i think i have an easy Q.

I install suse10.0 on everyone's PC whenever i can.

I do the install using the 5 CD ISOs. I do it this way so i can give them most of the toys, and it saves me time because im going off the CDs instead of a download.

Here's the thing:
Sometimes when i install a new package from someplace like packman,
the system will ask me for one of the installation CDs to install some other files (dependency, etc).

Thats fine for me because i have all 5 CDs.
But its not fine for the people who i installed suse10.0 on, because i didnt give them a copy of the 5 CDs.

How can i set YAST to get those extra files from somewhere else (repository, etc) and not ask for the local CDs?

If you could include some of the detail (exact URL location, etc) that would be great as well.

Gracias!

Hola,
yes, i saw that about 30 minutes ago.
VERY useful information.
Actually, i hope that the moderators move this to the top as a sticky.

But i guess i am still a newbie because i still do not see where i can set YAST to get those extra files from somewhere else (repository, etc) and not ask for the local CDs.

Any insight?

LOL.. You think this is Sticky material? it would be if the clue were to "RTFM" or check the "FAQ's at en.opensuse.org".

It's clearly there, and in the sticky at the top with SuSE repos.

http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_Ya...e_Repositories

That tells you how to add, and gives you the repositories.

fyi

okay,
for anyone else who ever needs explicit help for my original problem,
Here is the solution:

in YaST, in the Software category is already selected by default. Click on the Installation Source icon.
You'll notice that your CD or DVD installation media is already listed. Disable it .
Then add these 3 URLs separatley:
mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source-java/
mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source/
mirrors.kernel.org/suse/i386/10.0/SUSE-Linux10.0-GM-Extra/

---

adding these 3 repositories will be the same as if you had the 5 installation CDs inhand.

thanks to Niclaus for the help:
