I was away from my computer for an hour and when I returned the desktop was rearranged and there were also two icons for my floppy and two for my DVD-Rom where there had been only one each before. My music dvd icon had also disappeared.
One of the floppy icons did not work and so I deleted it since the other works fine.
However neither of the DVD-icons work and if I click on the DVD icon or try and mount the device (while having a CD in the drive) the following error message comes up:
"Could not mount device.
The reported error was:
/dvd/dev: Input/output error
mount: I could not determine the filesystem type, and none was specified."
The manual has no entry in the index for dev or dvd.
I tried re-installing the relevant dvd sections from YaST using my installation discs but to no avail.
