default user/pass


i just did an installation of suse 9.3 professional and i wasn't asked by the installer to enter a password or user, so how do i login to suse?

from the command line do this:

su passwd root
It will ask you for your password and then ask you for the new root password.

Oh, sorry just re-read your question! The install won't set up a root password but should have asked you for a user id for the initial administrator account. Let me check something real quick...

Near as I can tell, something did not go correctly with your install. If you are unable to log in at all, then I think you'll need to re-install. The install process should ask you for an initial user/password.
