Hi,
I am installing from sources a program for the first time. (I am newb). I was able to install libevent from source no problem on which this depends. (at least no reported errors). Now I try to move ahead and install main program and get this error while ./configure:

"checking for OpenSSL directory... configure: error: Could not find working OpenSSL library, please install or check config.log"

I try YaST and it shows OpenSSL is already installed. I do not know enough to interpret config.log and its too big to post here (I think). Any advice for a beginner? Any help is very appreciated. Thanks much

Please have patience with a newb. I have just figured out the solution on my own! But now I get the error

"Zlib header (zlib.h) not found"

however I think I know what I should try to figure out next, what is zlib.h and how do i install it. Sorry to take up your space but I was really stuck for a while :-)

No problem. I wasn't intending to seem impatient, but we do need full details to be able to help you. With this, you probably want to install zlib.
