Confused nay Very Confused

Being a relative newby to the Linux comunity being fairly old an all that I have recently tried to Install Suse 10.2 on my new laptop to replace dare I say it Vista>> Ptwe Ptwe the Install all went fine and Suse reported that the install had been successful and on reboot promptly disappeared completely ?. I have done this dual boot type of install in the past with no problems any body got any ideas? Why the hell do they put Cheapsh@'*t 32 bit operating sytems on 64 bit machines??..

Not clear how this is relevant...Did you install 32-bit or 64-bit SUSE?
Note: there is nothing wrong with a 32-bit OS on 64-bit hardware---it should work fine.

As to the main issue:
What option for bootloader did you select during installation?
What exactly happens at bootup?
Can you boot from the SUSE install disk and get to the installed version that way?

Hi You know how it is have bee working with Windows since the Gem days and have developed a bit of a twitch
I know what you are getting at but yes the machine booted to the set up disc and install system made all the right noises about resizing the windows partition and setting up the dual boot under grub and it went all the way through the install only to default back to Vista and ye' no sighn of my beloved Suse

Again, can you get to the installed SUSE by booting the install CD? If so, run "fdisk -l" and post the results here.

I infer from your reply that you never see a GRUB menu? Do you recall what GRUB options you selected during install?---eg MBR, partition boot sector, etc.
