cedega and worldofwarcraft 1.6 patch

Hey all, Ive been away from linux for a while (new job, webdesign, forgive me), And I am thinking of going the SuSE/Novel route this time around. The only question that I havent found and answer to this time around is regarding Cedega and the World of warcraft now that the 1.6 patch was released (in world of warcraft) anyone hear anything about it?

I just installed the WoW 14 day guest install under wine 20050628 and the game runs pretty well under that with the exception of a known mouse issue, the a thread on the Gentoo forums has alot of good information about it, and a lot of the Linux WoW players seem to say that under Cedega it runs perfectly to near perfectly. I plan on downloading the latest Cedega when I get home from work tonight to see if it clears up the one little mouse issue I'm having. I'll send an update and let you know.

cedega works wonderfuly, with running it under wine alone I had some issues with sound causing game/system crashes but under cedega that has gone away, I am still having issues with selecting things with my mouse, and will spend my free time searching the cedega/wine forums looking for a fix to that problem, I'f I can find that than everything will be running fantasticly and I'll post all the steps it took to get it working.

your the man!

I'll keep checking back. I went to the Cedega site today and poked around a bit. Didn't sign up for an account or anything so the forum was out my grasp for the time being. If it works like I hope it will, well...then thats all there is left. Insta convert. I have 9.3 running on a spare box and its working pretty well, just a few apps that I need from work are getting in the way. No Adobe CS support so far, but Im sure this could change eventually. If all else fails I can always go to work and use their equipment I guess :P

Thanks again for looking into this. Cant wait to find out either way.

Alright WoW runs great under Linux.

to run the latest WoW 1.6 patch you will need to get Cedega
also you will need to make sure you have the proper 3D linux drivers installed (nVidia/ATI)

if you have issues switching CDs during the install I reccomend making iso's of the disks then mounting them all

mount -o loop /path/to/CD.iso /path/to/mountpoint

after WoW is installed run it once to get the latest patch

then before you start it up again add the following to /home/userid/.transgaming/config and if you also installed point2play add it into /home/userid/.point2play/configuration_profiles/cedega_4.4 file as well.

[AppDefaults\\wow.exe\\memory]
"MemoryLayoutOverride" = "0x10000000"

then start wow with

cedega WoW.exe

and you shouldn't have any problems with the game.

if you do let me know and I'll try to help.
