I can send mail but if any attachment is attached, I cannot send mail. Not with Kmail but also not with Thunderbird. I tried to put of firewall on router but still the same problem.
This also happens on a brand new installation, and with Suse 9.1 and KDE 3.3.

Also, I tried different mail accounts, still the same problem.
what error messages do you get? or does it simply hang?
im not sure if it can be done, but if it is possible to control kmail from the command line, try sending an email with attachment from the command line because minor errors that arn't reported in gui are usually shown there.
i'll look into possibility of sending an email from command line and get back to you.
