Cannot register service: RPC: Authentication error; why = Client credential too weak

Hi folks,

I have a program to start called "pace_old".
In the command line I type it's name and get this:

Cannot register service: RPC: Authentication error; why = Client credential too weak
unable to register (registryProg, registryVers, tcp)

What should I do ?

Distro is SuSe 11.1. Btw: I do not get this message on Suse 9.0. Pace_old runs properly there.

thank you

I ran into this too and I don't understand it all yet. I'm using a LTP standard test called rpc01. Works on a SLES 10 but not SLES 11. SLES 11 is running rpcbind (the new portmap daemon). It works when I run it as user 'root'.

Is there a explanation for this? The standard user guide for SLES 11 documentation doesn't cover this specific detail.
