Cannot get ndiswrapper to 'wrap' drivers

I have a Dell 1390 miniPCI wireless card by Broadcom. I know that Broadcom does not have Linux drivers.

I use ndiswrapper with my SuSE 10.0.

I have installed ndiswrapper via YaST and installed the kernel-source.

I copied the wireless Windows driver folder that was given to me on the Dell CD into my /home/username directory. As root, I type:

Code:
ndiswrapper -i drivername.inf
Then I type
Code:
modprobe ndiswrapper
Then I check if ndiswrapper worked by typing

Code:
dmesg
It then shows that the ndiswrapper failed to load the drivers with a bunch of hex codes which makes no sense to me.

Any ideas?

I installed ndiswrapper from source to produce 2 RPMs, so maybe this won't work:
Code:
jschiwal@hpamd64:~> rpm -q --all | grep kernel
kernel-docs-2.6.13-15
kernel-default-2.6.13-15.8
kernel-update-tool-0.9-10
kernel-module-ndiswrapper-2.6.13-15-default-1.8-1
kernel-source-2.6.13-15.8
kernel-module-ndiswrapper-2.6.13-15.8-default-1.8-1
The version numbers match up.
[/code]
locate ndiswrapper.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.13-15.8-default/misc/ndiswrapper.ko

If they don't you might try running YOU and it may update the ndiswrapper.ko kernel module.
Also, I think you may need to install the kernel-syms package if you haven't run make on your kernel source.
If you do, run a YOU update afterwards. It may not match your current kernel if you've had a security update on the kernel since installing.
If you have the 2.6.13-15.8 kernel, here is a link to a kernel-syms package:
http://mirrors.usc.edu/pub/linux/dis...5.8.x86_64.rpm
or
http://mirrors.usc.edu/pub/linux/dis...-15.8.i586.rpm
depending on your architecture.

ndiswrapper -i drivername.inf

After you type ndiswrapper -i filename.inf you should then type
ndiswrapper -l this should say something to the effect of: driver present hardware present As long as you dont get an error here then you would modprobe ndiswrapper

Then I type
Code:
modprobe ndiswrapper
Then I check if ndiswrapper worked by typing

Code:
dmesg
Instead of dmesg type lsmod and look for ndiswrapper in that list that will show you if the module loaded if not then you can dmesg and continue trouble shooting

It then shows that the ndiswrapper failed to load the drivers with a bunch of hex codes which makes no sense to me.

I have a dell i8600 using the 1350 minipci card (broadcom chipset) and ndiswrapper working fine ... One thing I noticed was that I needed the bcmlw5a.inf instead of the bcmlw5.inf driver file that way ndiswrapper would say both driver and hardware present
