Can't boot from a SATA hard drive?

I have an SATA and PATA hard drive hooked up. In Fedora it always just used both under Logical Volumes. In Suse I'm trying to just use the SATA since it's much faster and quieter. It detects it and installs everything, but then when it reboots I get a GRUB error. :(

I heard a lot about this problem, but I can't remember the solution. I googled and found this:

Do you get into the grub menu or does it fail before? Maybe you could play around in your BIOS to change the contoller settings (detection order?!).

Hope it helps!

can you try setting your sata drives as RAID in bios, it has helped some people even when their harddrives were not put in a raid.
