But I don't want it this way!

Hey,

I need to find out how to have opening windows either open in the primary or secondary sceens rather than in the center of a xinerama display. I've done this in the past, but can't seem to remember.

I am using the ati proprietary drivers to run my dual screen setup.
SuSE 10

any ideas?
thanks

Isn't this a function of your window manager, not of xinerama? I did a dual head setup for a while using nvidia's twinview capabilities and had no troubles. KDE's window manager does "intelligent placement" of windows - I don't think I ever had issues with them opening in the middle of the combined display. At a bare minimum, most programs will respect the

-geometry +x+y

option, where x and y are the (ahem) x and y co-ordinates of where you want the upper left edge of the window to open.
